PIT OF GOBLIN beginner guide
Start with one rule: bring food home before greed turns a useful run into a wipe. This guide explains the 1.0 loop from the village to the Pit, the return trip and the next descent.
The run loop in five steps
PIT OF GOBLIN is a survival extraction game. You descend from the goblin village, search dangerous rooms for food and valuables, return before the expedition collapses, feed the King Queen and spend what you earned on the next attempt. The official store supports solo play, although it recommends friends or matchmaking.
- Choose a depth and prepare light, navigation and a weapon.
- Enter the Pit and locate the loot area without burning all your stamina.
- Prioritize food, then take valuables only when the exit route is still safe.
- Return to the bucket or extraction point with enough time to spare.
- Feed the King Queen, sell selected valuables and improve your equipment.
What to prioritize on your first descent
Light and a reliable path out matter more than a perfect haul. Torches reveal routes but can run out; the compass is a navigation tool; large loot may occupy both hands. Keep at least one free option for escaping rather than filling every slot with low-value objects.
Breakable objects and chests can contain useful supplies, but the longer you linger, the more likely a trap or enemy turns the run against you. Move room by room, call out landmarks in co-op and decide where to regroup before splitting up.
Movement, stamina and traps
Sprinting, jumping and fighting all compete for stamina. Reaching zero at the wrong moment can leave a goblin unable to clear a hazard or escape an enemy. Walk during safe stretches, sprint to create distance and avoid jumping without a reason.
Watch the floor and doorways. Community guides describe pressure plates, tripwires, gas, darts and falling hazards. Do not crowd a teammate who is checking a narrow passage; one goblin triggering a trap can disrupt the entire group.
- Keep an exit direction in mind before opening a chest.
- Use tables or low cover only when the enemy can actually lose sight of you.
- Throwing an item can distract, stun or damage some threats, but it also gives up that item.
- Treat fire as both a tool and a friendly-fire risk.
When to return and what to keep
A successful run is measured by what reaches the village, not what was briefly held in the dungeon. Leave when the team has meaningful food, important upgrades or a fragile loadout that would be hard to replace. A deeper floor may pay better, but the official description explicitly frames depth as a risk-versus-reward decision.
On return, separate food from valuables. Food advances the feeding cycle; valuables can be sold for coins; some equipment is worth keeping for later descents. Avoid spending every coin on a single plan when the next map or enemy mix may demand something else.
Common beginner mistakes
- Eating all useful food for a short stamina boost and then missing the feeding goal.
- Chasing one more room after the group has already secured a workable haul.
- Carrying only weapons and leaving no space for food or a navigation tool.
- Fighting large enemies when hiding or retreating would protect the run.
- Assuming pre-1.0 player limits, prices or item values are still current.
